GDP का अर्थ है ( gross domestic production) सकल घरेलू उत्पाद। जीडीपी से हमें यह पता चलता है कि हमारे देश में कितना प्रोडक्शन और सर्विस का उत्पादन 1 साल में हुआ है। किसी भी देश के जीडीपी को मापने के लिए उसके देश के सीमाओं के अंदर किया गया  उत्पाद और सर्विस का अंतिम मूल्य  निकाला  जाता है।

देश के सीमाओं के अंदर उत्पाद की गई सारी वस्तुओं और सर्विसेज का फाइनल प्राइस ही जीडीपी कहलाता है। अगर भारत की कंपनी दूसरे देश में अपना वास्तु तैयार कर रही है ,तो उसे वस्तु का जीडीपी या  कंपनी का जीडीपी हमारे देश में अकाउंट नहीं होगा क्योंकि वह हमारे देश की सीमाओं से बाहर है, लेकिन कोई दूसरे देश हमारे देश में आके बिजनेस करती है और उससे जो जितना मुनाफा होगा वह हमारे देश में अकाउंट होगी ना कि उसके देश में।
